OIL CONTROL® is a blue-green fibrous material with the following characteristics:
Product based on conveniently treated organic fibers that absorbs, retains and degrades oils and hydrocarbons, petroleum and fuels. Work on the ground or on the water. It absorbs an average of 7 times its weight in different spilled products, and can sometimes be higher. It does not drain and presents a great retention without leaching of the absorbed product. Toilet.
OIL CONTROL® is composed of denatured organic fiber materials and complies with the following parameters: Moisture percentage: 4%; Ash content: 3%; Inert materials: 0.2%.
Makes the process of applying and removing the product to/from the environment simple, easy and safe; Due to its physicochemical qualities, it is not harmful to the environment, to any fluvial, lacustrine, marine pathology or to the atmosphere. According to the experiences, it is a non-toxic, non-aggressive product and does not cause skin irritation. It does not have any harmful effect on health if it is handled properly and according to its destination.
Due to its high level of absorption, it can be applied around containers containing dangerous products, in order to contain and prevent possible spills. It can be divided and stored for an indefinite period. It facilitates the collection of spills on the water of oil and derivatives, hydrocarbons and fats. It makes the process of applying and removing the product to/from the environment simple, easy and safe. It significantly reduces the vapors present in different highly flammable products. Minimizes the possibility of spontaneous fires.
OIL CONTROL® is recommended for use in water and soil, near oil spills on shorelines. The product has been processed to have a strong affinity for the collection of natural oils. It can be used loose and also in boas, bags, blankets and pillows.
OIL CONTROL® will remove oils and other hazardous hydrocarbon based materials from both fresh and salt water. Once encapsulated in the OIL CONTROL® carbon matrix , spilled oil will not leak out, even under pressure. Humic acid then acts as a nutrient to stimulate microbial activity and enhance bioremediation of spilled oil.
Once OIL CONTROL® has been saturated with oil materials or hazardous substances, contaminants will not leach out, even under pressure, so any encapsulated material can be properly disposed of or used as a fuel source.
Encapsulated materials can be sent to landfills or used as a fuel source for heat generation ensuring that any material disposed of is in full compliance with state and local laws.
▪ For large spills in fresh or salt water, OIL CONTROL® can be applied to the spill using a stream of air or water. Any encapsulated residue can be removed from the water with handheld vacuums, vacuum barges, commercial nets, centrifuges, etc... Empty containers retain residue and should be considered hazardous. All precautions indicated on the label must be observed.
▪ For spills on coasts: It is applied in the same way and proportions as with water applications. The product can also be applied by sandblasting equipment, fire hoses, or pneumatic distribution equipment. Agitation is not necessary for most applications.
▪ For land spills: To recover encapsulated oil or hazardous materials from land spills, the product once encapsulated for disposal can be collected and disposed of efficiently and effectively using a variety of manual and mechanical methods: including hand picking and with the use of brooms, rakes and shovels. Mechanical means include the use of hand held vacuums, portable vacuum units, and vacuum vehicles. Turn off every ignition source. Avoid sparks and flames. Ventilate the area.
